Tips for Getting Ahead

Saturday:

  1. Print out all the recipes for the week.

  2. Click on the link provided and add all the groceries to your cart for the store you would like to get groceries from.

  3. Look through the meal plan table at the items provided in the cart and the presumed pantry items.  If you do not have a pantry item, make sure to add it to your cart.  

  4. Add any other groceries to your online cart that you need for the week (cereal, deli meat, bread, milk, etc).

  5.  Schedule a time to pick up your groceries tomorrow or have them delivered.

  6. Read through the recipes and the “Getting Ahead Tips” to prepare for the week.

Sunday:

  1. Cut 2 heads of broccoli.  Put them in a storage bag labeled “Tuesday’s dinner”.  Add the bagged carrots to the storage bag.  

  2. Cut the other two heads of broccoli and put it in a container labeled “Thursday’s dinner”.

  3. Make the compound butter and put in a container labeled “Wednesday’s dinner”.

  4. Dice 1 yellow onion, 4 medium carrots, 3 stalks of celery, and 4 cloves of garlic.  Put in a container labeled “Wednesday's dinner”.

*If you plan on following the directions in the recipe for lentil soup, you will want to keep your onion in a separate sandwich bag inside your container.  If you are like me and tend to skip the saute step you can just keep it all together.

Tuesday

  1. While the chicken and vegetables are cooking in the oven, dice the other two chicken breasts and cook on the stove top with salt and pepper.  Allow to cool and put in a container labeled “Thursday’s dinner”.

  2. Load crockpot for tomorrow’s Lentil soup.  

  3. Set an alarm so you remember to turn the crockpot on in the morning.
