Tips for Getting Ahead

Saturday

  1. Print out all the recipes for the week.

  2. Click on the link provided and add all the groceries to your cart.

  3. Look through the meal plan table at the ingredients provided in the cart and the presumed ingredients. If you do not have a pantry item, make sure to add it to your cart.

  4. Add any other groceries to your online cart that you need for the week (bread, milk, etc).

  5. Schedule a time to pick up your groceries or have them delivered.

  6. Read through the recipes and the “Tips for Getting Ahead” to prepare for the week.

Sunday:

  1. Rinse and dry romaine lettuce for Tuesday’s dinner.  Place in the refrigerator for later in the week.

  2. Make the burger sauce for Thursday’s burger bowls.  Store in the fridge in a labeled container.

  3. Mix the ingredients that will be cooked in the crockpot for Friday’s Slow Cooker Butter Chicken in a freezer bag.  Label and freeze.  The recipe calls for cooking the chicken in the crockpot for 4 hours, but since ours will be cooked mostly from frozen, we will cook ours on low for 8 hours.

  4. Mix sauce ingredients for the One-Pan Chicken and Broccoli dinner and store in the fridge.

  5. Cut all the ingredients for Wednesday’s One Pan Chicken and Broccoli Stir Fry dinner and store in  a labeled container in the fridge.

  6. Load the crockpot for tomorrow’s Healthy Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sweet Potatoes.  The recipe calls for cooking on low for 5-6 hours but due to my work schedule, mine cooks for 7-8 hours.

Monday:

  1. Place chicken for tomorrow’s Chicken Caesar Lettuce Wraps in a storage container with the marinade for tomorrow night’s dinner.

Thursday:

  1. Get tomorrow’s dinner from the freezer and put it in the crockpot.  Place the crockpot in the fridge overnight.  Set an alarm to remind yourself to start the crockpot in the morning!
