Tips for Getting Ahead

Saturday

  1. Print out all the recipes for the week. 

  2. Click on the link provided and add all the groceries to your cart. 

  3. Look through the meal plan table at the ingredients provided in the cart and the presumed ingredients. If you do not have a pantry item, make sure to add it to your cart.  

  4. Add any other groceries to your online cart that you need for the week (cereal, bread, milk, etc). 

  5. Schedule a time to pick up your groceries or have them delivered. 

  6. Read through the recipes and the “Tips for Getting Ahead” to prepare for the week. 

Sunday:

  1. Slice one yellow onion for Monday’s dinner. Dice the other yellow onion for Wednesday’s dinner.

  2. Slice the white onion and bell pepper into strips for Tuesday’s dinner and store in the fridge.

  3. Mix the sauce for Tuesday’s dinner and store in a labeled zip lock bag in the fridge.

Tuesday:

  1. Rinse (no need to wash)  the pan out from tonight’s dinner and make the meat mixture for tomorrow’s dinner (Savory Beef & Potato Au Gratin).  

  2. Put the cooked ground meat in the bottom of a casserole dish.  That way tomorrow you only need to get the red potatoes ready and cook the casserole!

Thursday:

  1. Baking the bacon is our favorite way to cook it. Put the bacon in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper for easier clean up.  Set the oven to 425°F and bake until desired doneness.  Place the bacon on a plate lined with paper towels until your eggs are done.
